We Launched the Eymir-EKOREST Project

As METU Centre for Ecosystem Research (EKOSAM), we officially launched the Eymir-EKOREST Project, which will be carried out in collaboration with the Ankara Directorate of Provincial Agriculture and Forestry and the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Lake Eymir and Lake Mogan have been at the center of our scientific monitoring program since 1997, representing one of the longest running continuous lake monitoring studies in Türkiye. This long-term ecological knowledge provides a strong scientific foundation for the conservation and restoration of Lake Eymir.

Within the scope of the Eymir-EKOREST Project, monitoring, assessment, and implementation activities will be conducted to support the ecological balance of the lake ecosystem. The project represents an important step toward improving water quality, strengthening food web structure, reducing environmental pressures, and developing biomanipulation-based restoration approaches.

Through this project, we aim to enhance the resilience of Lake Eymir against climate change and to establish a science-based, sustainable, and exemplary restoration model for inland water ecosystems in Türkiye.
