Ponds as Nature-Based Solutions: Workshop on Pond Creation, Restoration, and Maintenance

A workshop titled "Ponds as Nature-Based Solutions" was held on April 8, 2025, at the National Botanical Garden, in collaboration with EKOSAM, AMPHI, BIOART, and the Nature-Based Solutions Association.

During the event,

Prof. Dr. Meryem Beklioğlu (Head of EKOSAM),

Prof. Dr. Kasırga Yıldırak (Head of NbS Türkiye),

Erdal Yeşil (Director of BioART)

shared insights into the importance of nature-based solutions and presented examples from the projects they have implemented.

Feride Avcı (EKOSAM, METU) delivered a presentation on the EU-funded PONDERFUL project, focusing on the potential role of ponds in enhancing climate adaptation and biodiversity.

Lars Briggs from AMPHI provided a detailed presentation on the stages and methodology of pond restoration.

This workshop marked a significant step in strengthening the scientific foundation and practical implementation of nature-based solutions at the local scale.
