Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Meryem Beklioğlu and with the support of METU BAP–Center, our 12-month project "Carrying Capacity Analysis for Biodiversity-Focused Sustainable Area and Visitor Management: METU Main Campus and Lake Eymir" has been launched.

The project aims to protect biodiversity and enhance sustainable visitor management in METU Main Campus and Lake Eymir. Within the scope of the project, a comprehensive carrying capacity model based on physical, social, ecological, and managerial variables will be developed; all bird and butterfly records belonging to the campus and Eymir will be integrated into a single database; and a series of visitor information tools (signage, QR-based digital content, and feedback mechanisms) will be designed.

As a final outcome, the project aims to produce a scientifically grounded visitor management plan, updated species lists, a spatial database, and awareness-raising design materials.
